Our 40 for a Cause Fundraiser was a HUGE success! Benefiting The Autism Tree Project and commemorating Gabhart Investments, Inc. President, Curtis Gabhart, raising over $16,50574494_10151589086958503_781078808_n0!

Over 200 guests turned out for the party, including Supervisor Dave Roberts and representatives for Councilman Scott Sherman, Senator Marty Block, Senator Joel An295947_10151593108068503_425724907_nderson, Assemblyman Brian Jones, Congressman Scott Peters, and Assemblyman Brian Mainschein. We were so delighted to have Susan DeVincent, host of KYXY’s Afternoon Ride, emcee the event. The night was filled with fun and excitement as guests enjoyed food & drinks, live music, and massages courtesy of Spa Veila. Guests were captivated as they watched artist Gloria Muriel spend the evening painting a beautiful original piece, which was auctioned off at the end of the evening.

The photo booth provided by 5th Ave Photo Booths was big hit! Guests spent the evening dressing up and snapping shots of themselves with friends! The keepsake photos are no doubt adorning refrigerators and mirror frames throughout the county!

Appliances: It’s not really a kitchen without them!

Appliances: It’s not really a kitchen without them!

All of the appliances for our Beach Colony home in Del Mar have been ordered! It would have been easy to simply choose all Viking appliances, but we spent a little extra time putting together what we feel is the greatest appliance package and layout. Here are a few appliance highlights:

Refrigeration:Nothing is worse than getting Del Mar beach renovationready to prepare an epicurean delight, only to open the fridge and realize your ingredients are lacking in freshness. Any refrigerator can keep food cold, but we chose to install the Liebherr  RB1410 because this German-engineered  marvel is internationally known for its ability to keep food fresher, longer. It’s equipped with a top of the line ventilation system which provides better air circulation, which translates to better kept food.

Freezer/Wine Cabinet: Also from Liebherr, this freezer/wine cabinet unit is everything you could hope for in a freezer. It’s one thing to simply keep food frozen, but this unit is equipped with SuperFrost technology that allows it to drop to -26°F allowing for flash freezing. Combine that with its NoFrost feature and you have one incredible freezer. If that wasn’t enough, it also has a 34 bottle wine storage compartment complete with two separately controlled temperature zones. You can trust that when you go to pop that cork, your wine will be perfectly chilled.

Both the refrigerator and freezer are 24 inches. There total size equals that of a standard 48 in combo unit but provides for a more efficient use of space.

You have to check out what a great product this is http://www.liebherr-appliances.com/

Dishwasher: I’ve yet to meet the person who looks forward to doing dishes at the end of a fabulous dinner party with friends. Yet, it’s one of those tedious things in life that must be done. We’ve found a dishwasher that makes the process a little more enjoyable. The Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer series features two independent dish washing drawers, essentially giving two dishwashers in one unit.

We’ve taken that a step further by installing two units, giving four separate dish washing drawers; we like to call this the “Double Double”! You can wash your pots, plates, and stemware in a separate drawer, ensuring that everything is cleaned at the right setting.

Think about it, you don’t even have to put your dishes away if you don’t want because you will always have room for your dirty dishes and always have clean dishes available.

Our favorite thing about this dishwasher is one you won’t find in the manual. When entertaining guests, the racks can be removed and the drawers filled with ice, serving a built in cooler! As the ice melts it drains out. No watery cooler mess to clean and plenty of storage for drinks. How cool is that!

Lions, Tigers & Viking appliances O My!

We top off the rest of the kitchen with an incredible Viking Professional series appliance package

including….

24″ Under counter Wine  Cellar with a 54-bottle capacity (do you see a theme here?)

A free standing Viking Range, a 30″ built in oven & Microwave….. and of course a kitchen would not be complete without 2 islands, 2 sinks, a pot filler and more…. Check out some of our renderings below...

We would love to get feedback from you.

What are some of your favorite high-end appliances?

{Stay tuned for a master bath update; coming soon!}

7 steps for a productive brainstorming day

7 steps for a productive brainstorming day

The Gabhart Investments team met last Saturday for our annual brainstorming/business planning day. Curtis reminded us that “sometimes you have to look to the past to prepare for the future” with his 70’s Boogie Nights entrance.

We encourage you to follow these 7 steps to have a productive brainstorming day:

1) Go offsite – get out of the office to create a relaxed environment where ideas can flow

2) Have a central focus – start with a central focus to keep some structure

3) Whiteboard a mind map – organize ideas in a non-linear map based on the type of idea

4) Create ideas, not plans – create and challenge ideas instead of making specific plans

5) No blockers or divers – stop people from dismissing an idea quickly or going too deep

6) Schedule next steps – setup another meeting to develop one or more good ideas further

7) Have some fun – afterwards we treated ourselves to a lawn bowling…yes lawn bowling lesson at Balboa Park (scores respectfully omitted).
