We got all the roofers, painters and the tile guys up at Shasta, so it is all starting to come together and is looking good. I had to look at the paint and make some decision. I got the front door entry nicely done so it really pops and stands out, makes someone want to get out of the car and look at the rest of the property. Renovating any property is really an art of value engineering. You don’t want to spend on the most expensive or the cheapest materials but should always look to get the most ‘bang for your buck’. It is a fine balance between spending too much (and you can easily find that there is no limit) and spending too little.
I actually got the front door from craigs list. The sliding door which would have usually cost about $1,000 came at $375 and the front door which normally would have cost about $3,500 cost me just $850.
As they say, a dollar saved is a dollar earned. Whereas in this case, I am hoping that to kill two birds with one shot – by spending a little extra on something nicer to get a better price and/or faster sale. But at the same time, buying that ‘little extra’ at a steep discount!
